I admit: I do love dressing up. However, I don’t ALWAYS dress up. Many days you will find me in my favourite Canterbury ugly rugby jersey, jeans and my red shoes. I look daggy, I know, but I’m happy to go to the shop — and even meet friends for coffee in this outfit (oh, have you decided not to go out with me?) There’s comfort food and there’s comfort clothing. This is my comfort clothing. When I need a little TLC and just need to be comfortable, I wear this and am confident to go out as I am. I don’t like to be bound by always looking good; I like to dress up because it’s fun and I enjoy it.
Oh, and do a hair flick for me, would you. You know you want to. Go on, no one is watching {looking over shoulder}.

Rugby Top: AT LEAST 10 years old from a Canterbury shop.
Shoes: Target
My Tip: Enjoy comfort clothes when you need a little TLC. Don’t be bound by fashion, enjoy it.
What I love most: This is a close call between red shoes and the jersey. The jersey is winning by a tad.
PS: I really DID go and meet friends for coffee in this outfit.
“When your day is a little blurry, wear red shoes because they always look bright.”

I rarely wear pink. It’s not that I don’t like pink, I just don’t like wearing it much. I mostly wear black, blue or bold colours. My sister often encourages me to mix it up with a little pink, so when I spotted this cardigan, I thought of her. Put a pink cardigan with a cream lacy top and a sky blue belt and you have shabby chic.

Top: Target
Cardigan: Target
Pants: Purchased last year (2009) from Target
Belt: $1 Vinnies Op Shop
Earrings: Eclectic Dreams
Boots: Half price from Mika Boutique on Main Street Caloundra. Also worn in Brown and Black, Feminine and Casual Elegance
What I love most: The Foley China teacup. It was my mums. And I like the top too: it’s pretty.
Tip: If you need some inspiration for an outfit, think of a decor theme and do a Google image search. I was thinking Shabby Chic. Here’s some themes you may like to use.

Another tip: Don’t be afraid to mix the old with the new. The top and cardigan are new, the pants are last season and the belt is vintage. I love what Drew Barrymore wore to the Nylon Magazine/Express party this week in Los Angeles. Her Op Shop dress was $25 (US) and the Yves Saint Laurent “Tribute” pumps were $760 (US). That’s really mixing it up isn’t it?

I don’t follow fashion trends. I wear what I like and what suits me. If I like what’s ‘in’ then I guess I’m in. If not, then I’ll just be a out-of-date me. Black and Brown? It’s so 2009 apparently.
My husband and I had three children while we students (not sure how we survived, but we did), so I know all about shopping on a budget. To me, being stylish is making the best with what I have.

Skivvy: Ezibuy
Cardigan: Fashion Fair (wore it here and here)
Belt: Fashion Fair
Boots: Half price from Mika Boutique on Main Street Caloundra. Also worn here and here.
Necklace: Diva
My Tip: Don’t follow fashion. Wear what you like. Shop within your means. Be you.
What I Love Most: The necklace. It’s like wearing a little bit of happiness around my neck.
