Mother’s Day: Cupcake Case Flower Arrangement

Here’s something super simple and sweet for Mother’s Day: mini floral arrangement in a decorative cupcake case.  I was thinking this could make adorable birthday party/table decoration too. Or even as a birthday party activity: each child could arrange their own flower arrangement. How cute would that be?

Anyway, back to Mother’s/Grandmother’s Day. This is one of those low cost meaningful gifts and it’s easy so kids could enjoy making their own arrangement.

Decorative cupcake cases

Flowers and foliage (I purchased a few flower singles and also raided the garden)

Floral foam – cut to size (available from discount, craft and florist stores)

Mother's Day Gift Idea: Use a decorative cupcake case to make a mini flower arrangement. Kids could do it themselves!

1. Cut foam cubes to size. The cube should sit approximately 1 cm from the top of the cupcake case. I used a sharp knife and a cutting board to do this.

2. Cut flower stems to size. For kids, I would already have a selection of flowers ready to arrange.

3. Press the flower stems down into the foam.

4. Pour a little water to moisten the foam. The cupcake cases can handle water without leaking, but don’t fill, just use enough water to moisten the sponge or the water will eventually soften the cases.

5. Keep the sponge moist and enjoy for a week!

I’m keeping this in mind for birthday parties too. It’s easy to make and a heap of them and they look absolutely adorable on a table.
