“That’s my job.”

I like staying up late. The house is deliciously quiet. I was walking around, double checking the doors and peeking at each of the kids, and my teen was still awake. She called out, “What are you doing mum?”

“Just doubling checking the house and looking over you kids.”

“That makes me feel safe,” I heard her say from the darkness.

“That’s my job,” I said with a smile.

It’s not only my job, it’s my privilege to create a haven for these children of mine. It’s what we do as mums, don’t we?

Kelly loves life at both ends of the spectrum: wearing high heel shoes one day and hiking boots the next; sipping tea out of a pretty cup and slurping hot coffee from a camping mug; challenging herself physically and stopping for quiet unhurried moments to feel the wind on her face. Kelly and her husband Matthew seek to live a fun and adventurous life with their four children and pet bird.
