My Bedroom Colour Theme

bedroom colour theme -- with sheets

Fresh clean sheets are such a simple, delicious luxury!  And I have gorgeous new sheets from I Love Linen.  I’m giving away 6 x $50 vouchers at the end of this post, but first, I want to share with you my bedroom theme, and what my new sheets did for me. I had so much fun putting this post together!

Matching Mish-Mash

Moving 11 times in 13 years means collecting a lot of mish-mash of items.  Sometimes, I look at other homes, in real life or in magazines, and feel a bit disheartened.

Reality for me means different houses with varying colours; odd things; old things; new things. It all makes for a bit of a mess, with no sense of theme.

When Lauren from I Love Linen contacted me, I saw it as an opportunity to give the bedroom a bit of a lift.  It’s not that I don’t like my bedroom, but as we live in a rented home, the colour theme is not what I would choose myself.  And when you add the 13 year old bed frame, a coverlet found on a clearance sale a few years ago and an antique commode chair from my grandparents, well, as I said before: a bit of a mess.

When I get a bit down about a situation, I do five things.

  1. Acknowledge reality

  2. Look at what do I have

  3. Observe inspiration as I live life

  4. Make the best of it

  5. Be grateful and enjoy

Inspiration

I took a moment and looked at my bedroom objectively.  I saw the colours brown, maroon, yellow and blue.

Then, I flicked through photographs of special places I’ve visited, and I found one of Spring Bluff Station near Toowoomba, which is one of my favourite places.  It reminded me of the colours in the bedroom.

Now for the sheets!  I browsed the I Love Linen website and I almost decided on white because I adore crisp white sheets.  But then, I saw the charcoal 1000 thread count sheets, and they reminded me of gum trees, and I knew they would bring the other colours together beautifully.

Warm and Earthy

I love it! It’s warm and earthy.  I now walk into my bedroom and I think of a burnt red cabin surrounded by gum tree woods, with a blue sky backdrop and the sun shinning all around.

…can you see it, as I see it?

…see that teddy bear? Had it since I was 3. My most favourite toy.

I leave out the ECCO shoes I wore recently on the World’s Longest Catwalk when I’m not wearing them because they go with the bedroom. Nothing wrong with using shoes as decoration when they are not on your feet, right? I make a point of enjoying the room now, and it makes me happy.

Feels like I’ve done a bedroom makeover, but really, it’s just lovely new sheets and a different outlook.

I Love Linen

I Love Linen was the inspiration behind this post, and if you like all things linen, you’ll love the online shop. LOVE, I tell you! The quality is amazing (my sheets have that crisp hotel look) and the prices are fabulous.  Behind the website are two sisters and their mum, so you get that personal touch too.

I Love bed Linen and I was finding it hard to choose my favourite and then I saw the hammock (Peninsula striped Hammock) .. OMG I’d LOVE a hammock, I could imagine lying in the hammock on a summer day watching my boys play outside (hehe although they’d most likely end up joining me and we’d all tip out )

I can’t decide on one thing – but I love the kids kitchen sets (my boys love getting messy in the kitchen “helping” mum) and I also adore 1000 thread count sheets. They are devine.

Ooh, how much fun could you have adding colourful patterned cushions to the the Queen Ivory Quilt Cover Set? Could change you look as often as you like by changing throws etc.

I – like you, have moved from house to house- mostly rental, all over this big wide land of ours and unfortunately, as Mums all know , our bedroom is always the last to get any form of decoration! ;) I really like the Kerala quilt – nice beige back ground will blend in with any rental property “white”, and I can change my mind with the accessories to match any of the different pops of colour. I am favouring red right now but yellow is fast taking over.

I totally love the QUEEN SAND PEBBLE BLOCK COLOUR 1000 THREAD COUNT sheets. One of my favourite books as a teenager was Sand Pebbles which impacted my life so the name captured my interest. However, quilt cover is a muted yellow and grey and these sheets would look amazing!!

Yep, the hammock is great. My sis-in-law has said she would love one for her new backyard and I think this would suit nicely.

Ooh I would LOVE the Organic bath towels for a bit of luxury! In reality I would get the kitchen oven mitts because mine are so old they don’t protect my hands anymore. And the kids cooking set because I think this would help to get the kids more involved in the kitchen!

Hi! Spring has inspired me to do a bit of redecorating. I recently bought a new set of sheets from a department store & they honestly felt like i was sleeping on cardboard… hence they were straight off & I’m not even using them for my spare room(what would my guests think…)
I would LOVE a new set of 1000 count hotel sheets, it would feel luxurious! not being a regular hotel goer either I don’t experience such quality… The charcoal colour would match my theme nicely. Also the ‘luxe bed runner’ is an exact pattern to a scatter cushion I have on my bed so that would be a perfect match too. Love the range & prices are great!

The charcoal sheet set sounds just perfect for my green bedroom and brown doona cover.

Love the range of the store, as well as the prices.

It is Spring and what a better time to replace those pillows! After checking out the beautiful range at I Love Linen, my favourite product is MicroCloud™ 5 star hotel pillow – 2 for the price of 1! What a super price, I can’t wait to share with my friends. Thanks for making me aware of such a wonderful family based company.

Ah, your bedroom sounds like ours. A mish mash of random things; we have just bought our first little home and are in the process of choosing paint colours and curtains. Our poor forgotten linen has boiled down to mismatched pieces as the old ones got too old and turned into rags. About time we acquired some new fresh linen for our bed (somehow the baby has overflowing linen options). I think the “QUEEN WOOD MUSHROOM BLOCK COLOUR 1000 thread count hotel sheet set” sounds perfect to complement the colours we have in our furniture and doona cover. Thankyou for this amazing opportunity!

I was really excited when I saw the Bayville Jacquard Teal Throw on the I Love Linen website. We are always using mismatching blankets and throws in winter, but this one would actually match our quilt cover! Such great prices as well!
