Father’s Day Giveaway: $200 RedBalloon Voucher

redballoon experiences -- story bridge climb brisbane

We both agreed, it was up there with one of our best dates.  At dusk on Saturday, the husband and I climbed the Brisbane Story Bridge before heading out to the stunning views of Mt Cootha for dinner.

Climbing the bridge was a wonderful experience!  And thanks to RedBalloon, I’ll be doing more fun stuff like this over the next 6 months, so stay tuned! I love the adventure of it!

The Climb

The Story Bridge Climb in Brisbane is one of 3 in the world! The climb was meticulously organised, and our guide Caleb, was professional, fun and knowledgeable. It was an easy climb and I felt safe (just a little shaky for the first little bit as I got used to the height).  The 360° view at the top was stunning, stretching out across the city lights to Moreton Island, the Glasshouse Mountains, Flinders Peak and Mt Barney.  A fabulous experience for both locals and tourists.

The Date

My husband and I grew up in Brisbane, met in Brisbane, fell in love in Brisbane, and had our wedding reception in Brisbane, so it was special to revisit many of the places from above, that hold significance to our relationship.  Once the jitters left, we both found ourselves feeling strangely calm and quiet.   It was a special experience to share with each other, and it was so fun to go on an out of the ordinary date. Just what we needed; just like a mini holiday.

What the husband said: I was really impressed by the professional way in the organisation was run. All the equipment was well maintained, and the tour guide was excellent.  I enjoyed it, even more than I expected! There was something very calming about being on top of the bridge; it felt like I was away from it all. Very refreshing!

I would buy my husband (and father of 3) a massage voucher. He works hard and despite being a blokey bloke, his soft side has always been massages.

I would buy my husband the story bridge climb because he has a fear for heights and he’s always said “if I can climb that then I can do anything” lol

I think my husband would probably like the Strahan one. Because even thought Tassie is only a small place and we have lived here our whole lives we have never ventured that far. Although he would probably be happy with most of them.

This is so hard, so many to choose from. I know he would love the Tiger Moth Joy Flight, the Stunt Driving & Creative Car Control, the V8 Car Drive and also the Fishing Trip Deep Sea Adventure. So if I won it, I think I will have to put them all in a hat, and pull one out of it.

I think my hubby would love the V8 hot laps, but I would choose something we could do together – probably the Storey Bridge climb. We don’t get out much these days with a 4 month old bub and 4 year old twins!

KateNo Gravatar August 20, 2012 at 2:14 pm

Wow, so many to choose from! The golf package, the beer tasting, wineries tour, Turkish dinner or a rally drive?! I think Red Ballon has my gift’s sorted for my Hubby and my Dad for a long time to come :)

I would like my daddy to have a relaxing day on the tall ship adventure with my mummy & me. He does a great job with my mummy who is having a baby in 2 months. Hes a hard worker and deserves a days break. We would love a day as a family before my little brother or sister arrives. It would mean the world to us! :)

Any of the car/plane/helicopter activities where he gets a turn at driving it himself would be fabulous (though might set the bar quite high for every Father’s Day after it!!)

I guess I’d have to get him a flying session, although my dad being in the UK probably wouldn’t be able to fly here to use it! So I think instead, I’d get my hubby a car racing experience, and sign it from my little lady!

I would get my wonderful hubby a 1/2 day fishing trip – deep sea adventure. He spends long days working as a truck driver so it would be wonderful for him to get away from the traffic for at least 1/2 day. I would also send our 2 sons with him – and then my daughter I can catch up on some Serious Gold Coast Shopping!!

It would be the perfect gift that they both would love! I’m sure they both have enough socks and undies by now :)

(F)light Simulator Experience for hubby, he’s been so helpful with bubbly,
(L)ittle bub is so sick with pneumonia in her lungs, nothing’s too much trouble hubby says with love and hugs,
(Y)ou wouldn’t believe how much time he’s had off work, lucky his boss isn’t a jerk!

(M)oney is tight, everything I think of for Father’s Day is never quite right,
(E)ntrust me with this voucher for the flight, and everything would be a surprise and a delighted scream and a fortunate fright!!

Fishing Trip Deep Sea Adventure – Full Day
My father wasn’t exactly a dad. My best friend since I was a baby, her mum is my mum’s best friend and her parents I call my Kiwi Mummy and Kiwi daddy as they live in NZ but we visit eachother often. Recently whilst there I was down and kiwi dad took me out sightseeing and when I used all the ink in the printer for study I asked what cartridge it was to replace it. He replied I don’t charge (daughters name) why should I charge you. He does so much for everyone and one of his simple pleasures is fishing.
