How to Make a Flower Head Wreath

how to make a flower head wreath

There is something simple, sweet and girlish about a flower head wreath.  My husband had the day off work this day, so we decided to go for a drvie in the country.  Our car broke down, right near a gorgeous patch of wildflowers. While we waited for roadside assistance to arrive, we made flower head wreaths.  We didn’t mind the wait. Not at all.

How to Make a Flower Head Wreath

  • String or Wool
  • Wire Craft Circle Ring 20 cm: I purchased mine from Spotlight.
  • Fresh or fake flowers

1. Lay the first flower along the outside of the circle.

2. Wind the stems of the flowers around the wire.

3. Keep in place by twisting a piece of string around the flower stems. Continuously lay flowers and wind wool around to keep it in place.

4. Repeat until the wire ring is covered in flowers.

Botany Bay Diamond Weevil - Chrysolopus spectabilis green beetle

We found these beetles. After googling, I think they may be Botany Bay Diamond Weevil Beetles (Chrysolopus spectabilis).

The warmer months in Australia is a the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and the flowers.

Oh, you all look gorgeous. Every Easter I think it would be a lovely thing to do (variation on Easter hats or something!) but I’ve never got around to it. Now I’m inspired!

What beautiful flowers – and beautiful children! And beautiful mummy too :)

Somehow I have missed your ‘love the moment’ challenge (think after our holiday I have been skimming rather than reading round the blogosphere and know that I am still trying to catch up!) but after seeing it tonight I am going to take it on! What a lovely idea.

What a beautiful bunch you are! And such a fantastic idea! It looks like everyone had a wonderful time. (Except maybe dad trying to deal with the car?) :)

No, No, No, Kelly, flowers are NEVER weeds! (There MAY be flower haters, who call them weeds tho.) In my opinion, placement is key. If they are located where you want/need them, they are flowers. If they are in your way or there are too many of them, THEN they are weeds!

Anyway, I can’t wait to see flowers again. It’s the middle of winter here and we just got 1 inch of snow overnight, which is mostly melted now. Glad I’m not further north where there is so much more.

Enjoy the warmth and all the summer fun. Can’t wait to hear about your next adventure!

Finally! Someone is showing off a wreath without it pertaining to a wedding!! I can’t wait to try this out with my girls, think we would really enjoy it. Glad I found your instructions!
