I look for ways to bring an aesthetic appearance to every house I live in; to make it a home. Right now, I’m at house number 9 in a 10-year period, and none of them have been my own. It’s been hard, moving so much, but it’s taught me that a wall, roof, and material things don’t matter — people do.
I love the look of the fruit in these vases. I also appreciate seeing how much fruit is left. We churn through fruit in loads in our household. They also make for a great props in photos (see cake photo below).
If you are looking for a fun and pretty way to keep your fruit, purchase some large vases. I bought these ones (pictured) from Homeart for $19.95.

Nice idea! I have an abundance of lemons at the moment which would look great in a big vase!
Lemons would look wonderful Carolyne!
Stealing this idea Kelly, I love it!
Might last longer than flowers too….then again maybe not.
My kids devour fruit!
I’m thinking a vase full of pomegrantes would look gorgeous on my dining table.
Steal away! I’ve just enjoyed it so much I wanted to share the joy. Pomegrantes would look gorgeous! That’s it: I’m buying another vase. lol
very cool!
Very nice. My husband is hell on glasswear – he broke all my drinking glasses in our first year of marriage. So I tend to have fairly sturdy items in our kitchen.
BAHAHAHA! That’s so funny. And it sounds like my husband.
Lovely Kelly. May have to store this idea away for when we get our kitchen.
I bet you are looking forward to that.
I don’t think I’m brave enough to use glass as decor until at least the second child turns 10… and that will be quite a while.
Looks good though.
I think baskets and salad bowls could be decent substitutes although the effect won’t be quite the same.
lol… Yep, do what you are comfortable with.
Such a fan of fruit as decor, I always have big bowls and plates piled high with fruit … but I love the idea of fruit in large vases like that, it looks fabulous. That way I can put all my empty vases to use, clear up some room in my cupboards, and reclaim some of my bowls for other purposes!
Yes Jasmine, do that
And if you like, take a pic and send it to me.
Love it Kel it looks so inviting too. Currently I am using my vases to store my celery and spring onions in got sick of them wilting in the fridge. Doubles up as ‘flowers’ and it does wonders for around the home. It certainly makes it feel all warm and inviting (although the toddler in the house means that they can’t be placed on the table) the kitchen sure does look purdy….Might have to add the fruit to the other vases (unless of course I am inundated with flowers soon)
HAHA! Doubles as flowers. Classic. I like you Amz x
What a great idea. We are about to move for the 8th time in 9 years, will remember this idea. Thank you.
Moving is so disruptive isn’t it Kylie!!!? Hope the move goes well.
