There was a transition time from when I felt it was time to take the change table from the nursery but still had nappies to deal with. I decided to remove the change table and purchased a special bear mat. It has become the change mat, otherwise known as ‘the bear’. When it’s time to change my son’s nappy or get dressed after a bath he knows to lie down on ‘the bear’. The only negative is it’s on the floor (rather than standing height) but, as a Mum, I spend a lot of time on the floor so it has not worried me. Anyone else have this transition time?
Interested in the bear mat? It also comes in pink and is fabulous for newborns as the mat is super soft and cuddly. You can buy them online here or try a specialist baby store.

We are currently going through the transition phase with our 16 month old daughter Heidi, who is our third youngest, but our three yr old Lilly is sometimes in nappies still depending on the day.
We recently moved Heidi to the spare room so her room(closest to my husbands and mine)can be turned into our new addition(due early june)Olivers nursery.
With that said we agreed Heidi was as ready for a little girls room rather a babies room as we could give her,so decided to leave the change table in the nursery. We have a brightly coloured dora rug on her bedroom floor and she adjusted just fine to being changed down there,it was mainly hubby who had some issues with the whole process of getting up and down so often(funny for me to watch though)..but its actually given Heidi some independence as she knows now what change time is in her room and lays down on her own.I think the bear rug is adorable and I am thinking of buying one for Oliver, even just for the family room as somewhere for him to lay. Thanks for the insight.
OH YES, So cute too. We took the mat off the change table for #1 and just slid it under the bed when we didn’t need it. I cant wait to do the same with #2 in a years time. I want my change table for an art trolley.
I was so sad to give up my changing table when I moved my girls into the same room, but a basket (full of diapers, wipes, and a mat) hides under the crib and is ready for changing times. I think your bear is adorable… and very brave!
LOL! Yes the bear has to be very brave. Thanks for making me laugh.
it;’s a great find the bear, but don’t you reckon you could get back problems with it? worth giving a shot though!
That’s a good point; however, being a mother means I spend a lot of time on the floor in general LOL. I sit on the ground to change the nappy to minimise the strain on my back (and believe it or not, I do pelvic floor exercises while I’m there). I bet you wish you didn’t know that lol.
